Our Goals

Parents are the most important prevention tool in our community.  It is our hope that this campaign will help decrease underage drinking in the Birmingham Bloomfield community by encouraging more vigilant parenting, effective role modeling and successful supervision.

Project Strategies

This campaign hopes to:

Who We Are

The Parents Who Host, Lose the Most committee was originally established to implement the Parents Who Host media campaign sponsored by the Birmingham Bloomfield Community Coalition.  The annual campaign educates parents and the broader community about the law and consequences related to providing alcohol to underage students.  The campaign runs during the prom and graduation seasons.

The committee includes parent representatives from Academy of the Sacred Heart, Andover, Brother Rice, Cranbrook Kingswood, Detroit Country Day, Groves, International Academy, Lahser, Marian, Seaholm and Roeper high schools.

Parents' ability to influence whether their children drink is well documented and is consistent across racial and ethnic groups.  Setting clear rules against drinking, consistently enforcing those rules and monitoring your child's behavior all help to reduce the likelihood of underage drinking.
